Google Cloud Platform (GCP) delivers big technology to organizations of every size, and its Partner Channel is a key component of that service. Google forges go-to-market initiatives with Google partners who have the skillsets to build valuable solutions on GCP for their mutual customers. As part of this partnership, Google provides training resources and certification tracks that help partner employees deliver exceptional capabilities. To get partners to take advantage of that training, Google turned to us to design customized learning programs that fit their business goals.

Our learning architects join forces with Google and their partners to understand their joint go-to-market strategies and goals, including revenue commitments. Using our proprietary readiness calculator, we move these goals into readiness targets, taking into consideration existing capacity, attrition, and competitive cloud capacity. We then design a learning program to achieve these goals using multi-modality strategies, such as asynchronous and synchronous training, buy-versus-build strategies, and mentoring and coaching, to name a few. Throughout the engagement, we support Google and the partner in managing progress and unblocking barriers to success through direct consulting.

Our readiness plans succeed because we spend time understanding Google and its partners—their business goals, their current capability, and their capacity to achieve those goals. We establish each learning framework from scratch, assessing wants and needs for Google’s top 150+ partners, identifying readiness gaps, and analyzing needed capabilities and resource capacity by role. With all parties aligned on goals, we customize every training engagement model to fit the partner’s needs and capabilities and build training plans, events, and awareness campaigns related to business goals. Then we stay by their side to support, maintain, and grow their capabilities, mentoring trainees and enhancing the framework based on measured results.

In the span of two years, we have increased certifications for Google Channel Partners from 2,000 to over 20,000—an overall 10 times increase. We can attribute around $4 billion in GCP consumption to the partners that have learning consultants assigned to them.
