Overview

LSEG Risk Intelligence wanted to move away from its functional image as a financial solutions provider, and position itself as a global innovator, delivering trusted data for
the wider good of society. To do this, we strategically harnessed the 25th anniversary
of their flagship product, World-Check. Through powerful storytelling across an array
of assets, we brought LSEG Risk Intelligence’s mission to life. At the centre of this activity
was a hard-hitting documentary, recounting the true-life story of a child’s stolen identity.

Challenge

LSEG Risk Intelligence faced a significant perception challenge. Despite playing a vital role in financial crime prevention, the division was often viewed through
a narrow lens, seen as just a compliance and risk database.  
The financial sector’s complex, technical nature makes it difficult to connect emotionally with wider audiences, including regulators, policymakers, NGOs and the general public. Financial crime - often seen as abstract - needed
to be framed as a real-world issue impacting people’s lives.  

Approach

Our insight showed that while risk professionals are deeply motivated to create positive societal impact, they often feel distanced from the tangible outcomes of their work.


Through direct feedback, stakeholder interviews, and industry engagement, we learned that emotional storytelling resonates powerfully with this audience, helping stakeholders see their efforts as both essential and meaningful.


To bring this to life, our strategy centred on authentic, human storytelling,
with the emotional hook of the “One in Fifty” documentary acting as a unifying theme across all campaign elements. The campaign was strategically aligned with the 25th anniversary of World-Check across social media, web, live events, email communications, and internal touch points.

Solution

Our global campaign communicated powerful message that financial crime has a real human cost and the power to destroy lives. The message was designed to shine a light on the dark truths behind faceless financial crime.

Creatively, it broke new ground through an industry-unique perspective, with a cinematic, documentary film at it's heart, telling the true story of a young victim of identity theft. Supported by a campaign of targeted OOH, social content, event collateral and partner communications.

Impact

The campaign shifted perceptions across the globe, reframing risk intelligence as a vital force for societal good, rather than just a regulatory obligation.

Success was measured through a combination of quantitative and qualitative metrics, including video views, watch time, and engagement rates, as well as the reach and interaction levels across social media platforms. Having only launched in June, results are still in progress. However, the campaign has already started to deliver significant, measurable results aligned with our objectives, as well as recognition on the film festival circuit where One In Fifty was selected for the Indy Shorts and Holly Shorts International Film Festivals and shortlisted for the pre-eminent B2B Marketing Awards.
